KEVIN EARL TAYLOR
Artist Biography
Kevin Earl Taylor was born and raised in Charleston, SC, though he now lives and works in San Francisco, CA. In 1995 Taylor received a BFA from The Savannah College of Art and Design. Taylor paints moments of encounter, often pairing animals and occasionally people in contemplative moments. The subjects face off with an air of mystery, as they seem to be sorting out their place in the natural world and relationships to each other. These vignettes are subtle; yet suggest commentaries on our disappearing planet. They prompt the viewer’s curiosity and, at the deepest level, evoke consideration of what it is to be conscious, to be human.
Taylor’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States, Sweden, Germany, England, Netherlands, and Denmark and can be found in public and private collections around the world. Taylor has taught at The Academy of Art University, Root Division, and The Gibbes Museum School of Art, as well as given lectures at the San Francisco Art Institute, Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art, Google, The Academy of Art University, and The American Institute of Architects. His work has can also be found in publications including, Juxtapoz, Artweek, Art Papers, Bant (Istanbul, Turkey), and Merian (Germany) to name a few.
